- Great content: You must provide great content that solves the problems of your readers
- An Email List: (I recommend you go with Kartra or Convertkit)
- Something to sell: (This can be your own product or someone else’s product)
- Traffic: (The more people visit your blog the more money you can make blogging)
- Passion: Be passionate about blogging and never quit.
Once they have these 6 basic things in place and once they start putting in the work, this is how most top bloggers make $2000 per month, $5000 per month, and even up to $10.000 per month blogging.

I noticed that the majority of other articles don’t really tell you everything you need to know about how to make money blogging either because the authors of these articles don’t really know what they are talking about or because they have never made any money online themselves.
If they have never made any dime online themselves before, how can they teach other people how to make money blogging? It doesn’t make sense, does it?
I’m not pretending that I’m better than anyone else out there. I’m not pretending that I made millions of dollars blogging. So, what qualifies me to talk about this subject?
I made more than $5000 the first year with werencontre.com; my very first blog I launched in French a few years ago. Then, after that, I kept making money with my other blogs.
Even if you won’t see me sharing tons of income reports here as most bloggers do, I started this very blog you’re reading right now just a few months ago. But it’s already making me money here and there as I’m writing this article on “How top bloggers make money.”
So, when it comes to making money online, I know a thing or two. Hence I’m not afraid to say that I know what I’m talking about.
I was hesitating to keep this article as a single part article but then I just decided to split it into a two parts article. So once you finished reading this first part, also make sure to go and check part 2 here.

And I’m not even talking about millionaire bloggers like; Arriana Huffington from Huffington Post, Pete Cashmore from Mashable, or Michael Arrington from TechCrunch.
I’m just talking about regular people who are killing it right now with their small, medium or large blogs.
For the perspective of this article, I selected just 7 of them and I want to share with you how much they make just to inspire you so you can understand that you too can start your own blog and make money from the comfort of your home if you take your blogging business seriously.
Most of these bloggers publish their income reports on their respective blogs on a monthly basis. So, the information I’m sharing here is public information and anyone can see it by visiting their blogs.

All you have to do is promote the product for the company through your own efforts and they’ll pay you commissions for each sale made by the product. The money you earn is yours to keep and there is no limit on the number of sales you make.

The short answer is: I don’t know. As I already told you above, some people make thousands per month with affiliate marketing and some people make zero.
I can’t give you any guarantee that you will make money at all since it depends on too many things and on each person’s experience in the business. The answer is really not so simple. There are a few factors that influence the amount of money one can earn online from affiliate marketing.
The amount of commission is determined by the number of sales you make and the percentage of the commission they pay you. The more sales of a certain product you make, the more money you will make.
Choosing products to promote can also affect your earnings. If you have a knack for selling particular products, then you might be able to get more sales with that product.
However, there are also many products that do not bring any sales at all because people don’t need them or because you’re selling them to the wrong audience.
Therefore, you need to know which products and which type of affiliate marketing campaign to choose so that you are guaranteed a good income.

As we discussed above, the second most common way bloggers use to make money is affiliate marketing. But even if you’re not a beginner, affiliate marketing is much more difficult to do, because with affiliate marketing, even if you’re promoting other people’s products, before you can make a commission people still need to buy something after they visited your website and clicked on your affiliate link.
With advertisements, you don’t need to sell anything at all. You don’t need to hold an inventory. You don’t need to pitch people or incentivize them. All you need to do to make money with ads is to drive a good amount of traffic to your website.
Whenever someone clicks on your ads, the advertisement company pays you a small portion of the commission made by that click.
Now the question is, how do you find affiliate offers that pay you to place ads on your blog?
The first step is to ask around. You can also go on Google and do some quick research. There are plenty of companies that are willing to pay bloggers like you to place ads on their blogs.
But in my opinion, the most popular place to make money when you’re just starting out and you have no connections at all is the “AdSense program”. This is Google’s program that pays you to place ads on your blog.

How to make money displaying advertisements on your blog
Here is how to make money displaying advertisements on your blog. Here I am going to discuss how to make money using the Google AdSense program. There are many ways to make money with AdSense and most are free to use.
Most people search for AdSense related keywords or words. Some keywords are more profitable than others, so you want to get a subject that is very profitable. You want to be able to earn money by the time your ads are displayed.
Many people do not understand that you should always try to increase the number of impressions (the number of times your ads are displayed) when you are using AdSense. This is because more impressions mean more revenue for you.
To attract visitors to your blog, it’s important to put quality first. This means that you must create good content based on what your audience is looking for.
When people are searching for that keyword and find your blog then they will click on your ads and the money will come in.
Keep in mind that you will have to share your revenue with Google every time someone clicks on your ads. One way to make a good amount of money is to always go with the most lucrative keywords.

As I told you, there are many different advertisement companies you can work with to make money by displaying ads on your blog.
If you use AdSense on your blog and if you’re not making enough money, don’t worry. There are tons of other advertisement companies out there that pay very well for displaying simple ads.
But most of them will require that your blog receives a good amount of traffic before they accept you.

3. Bloggers make money with sponsored posts
With all the buzz about paid advertisements and affiliate marketing, people almost forget that there are other ways out there to make money with their blogs.
Among these other methods, there are “Sponsorships” or, “Sponsored posts”. But what is a sponsored post and how do you make money with this strategy?
Sponsored posts are also called reciprocal links. You can compare them to “Native Ads” in that sense that a company will pay you to write something where you recommend your audience to go check that thing on the merchant’s website.
As you can easily imagine, with sponsored posts, both the bloggers and the merchants benefit from this unique relationship.
Usually, these paid posts or sponsored content will match perfectly with the environment of your website.
Sponsored posts are not only free but you don’t have to pay anything. They are usually not your normal paid ads and are not even like paid search results. These are just normal posts on your site that will normally give something of value to your audience.
If you have a large following and if you recommend a product or a service to your audience, since they already know and trust you, they will go and potentially buy whatever you are promoting through you’re sponsored post.
This is how merchants are going to increase their sales because you act as an influencer.
A sponsored post is effective when it’s well written and informative, which will draw more traffic to your site. There are many advantages to using sponsored posts for making money with your blog.
When you choose to use sponsored ads to make money with your blog, you need to use tools that will help you generate more traffic to your blog or website.
If you do not have this traffic, you will not make much money with sponsored posts. So the first thing that you need to do is to market your blog.
This means that you have to place your advertisement on blogs that are related to yours. This means that you will have to advertise on blogs related to your niche.
Making money with sponsored posts is one of the top ways to earn revenue from your blog. To give you a real-life example and show you how sponsored posts can be lucrative, here’s a real-life example from Kelan and Britanny.
In case you don’t know them, Kelan and Britanny are two 6 figure bloggers who blog at thesavvycouple.com.
In May 2019, they published their “income report” where they were sharing with their audience “How they made $43,547 with their blog in a single month“. Here is a screenshot of their blogging income breakdown:
Have you noticed anything extraordinary in this diagram? In case you haven’t, let me tell you what I noticed. If you look carefully, you will notice that 61% of their blogging income comes from sponsorship.
This means that that month, Kelan and Britanny made up to $33,773 just with sponsored posts!
It’s amazing, isn’t it?
If you want to start making money with sponsored posts, there are certain rules you must follow, especially when it comes to protecting yourself. To better protect you legally when working with brands, Amira; a well-known lawyer has put together a “Sponsored Post Contract Template“.

After deducting all the commissions, each sale I make brings me around 5 euros. But I know that I could be making more if I sold this book on my own blog.
You see, how much you can make from selling books really depends on too many factors.
Now, if you ask me: can you really make a living selling simple books online? The answer to this question is: yes you can!
But only if you know the right steps to take and the right techniques to use.
A big step in the right direction is to find a mentor or to invest in some courses that provide you with the tools, training, and support you need to get started.
Trying to do and learn everything by yourself can result in time-loss for you and you don’t want to waste your time if you want to make as much money as possible.
Now before you set out to learn how much money can you make selling books online, it’s important to understand why you should consider this route. You see, having a successful eBook business does have some very good advantages.
